AAMTV > The U.S., NATO and the War in Afghanistan
AAMTV hosted an international town meeting on January 25th with U.S. Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke and German Defense Minister Karl Theodor Zu Guttenberg, for broadcast on Germany’s ARD TV and Afghanistan’s Tolo TV.
During the hour-long event, held at the Newseum in Washington and ARD Television studios in Cologne, Holbrooke and Guttenberg discussed NATO’s engagement in Afghanistan, Germany’s troop commitment and the challenges of maintaining security and limiting corruption. Frank Sesno moderated from Washington; ARD’s Tina Hassel facilitated discussion in Cologne.
Holbrooke and Guttenberg fielded questions from students and audience members in both countries, and several Afghan viewers expressed their opinions via prerecorded video segments.
